What to use to test amps?

I am going to start producing amps and was wondering what would be the best equipment to use to test the amps. I know Audio Precision is very well respected and is proven but it is also very very expensive. I was wondering if there is some equipment that would be a good alternative, with equivalent capabilities, for cheaper.

What tests are you looking to run?

Obviously you need a power supply. You can achieve this on a bench but it will take a decent bit of money and a lot of searching. Readily available power supplies are what like 3=50 amps. It would actually be easier to build a nice power supply in a vehicle.

I am looking to get specs regarding power outputs at different ohm loads and distortion levels and so on. I want to be able to get all the specs to make sure that the amps are performing the way I want them to. Any suggestions?
