I need an alarm, but I dont have a clue what I need, which ones are good quality alarms, or what options i should look for.

The only alarm I know of off hand is viper, and crimestopper, other than that, Im clueless.

I dont want a bottom of the line, preferably would like one that is better than good, but my budget is around $500 total incl. labor.

I know I dont need remote start, that's about all I know.

Well I got my Viper 791XV from HCCAfan for $170 and a local installer did it in about 2 hours for $170. Total cost is $340 and it has remote start. Going to add to my alarm soon when the budget allows for it though, additional sirens and sensors...still will be under $500 for me.
