What to do if subwoofer and subwoofer box cutout don't match in size?

haahah I like this. But yea, you need to either double baffle it (cut another piece of MDF to height and width) cut proper size hole. Or cut out mounting rings. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
What would you suggest? What's easier to do? Haha.

Yep^^^^Id do this^^^^ Either/or:eyebrow:
^^^^ THIS^^^^ Just get another sheet of MDF 1/2-3/4 inch, and cover the old front facing up, and cut some new holes for the new subs..Carpet if you like .with some spray adhesive, and new wrap. You can cover with?? Instead of MDF, you could use Birch/oak, and sand down smooth, and even stain it/paint??What ever??Flex Stone it even,Stuff is pretty durable.Instead if doing the whole front plate, just do the speakers holes with like a 12"x12" square, and just cut out for new speaker.

Well if the subwoofer says cutout diameter 10-13/16" and the box is already 11-1/8", will the subwoofers automatically be too small? The subwoofers are in transit right now so I can't actually see if they fit yet. But I wanted to do this install as soon as possible so the easiest way to make these fit would be awesome.

@audiobaun , I'm not sure I have the tools to make those 'circular' cutouts unfortunately

Wait till you get the subs in, and set them in the holes..Im betting that will be too small/have a gap around the sub/speaker.If so, easiest thing would be to go to Lowes/Home Depot, and go to the precut wood section, and find a small piece to cover the to cover the speaker holes up with, or take the measuremets of the face of the box, and the center of the opening, and get them to cut it out,or sometimes you can go to school in town and get one of the kids in the work shop do it for free...I use to bring stuff to school in the Mechanics/Carpenter shop, and they would cut it out /weld, ect.I got alot of stuff dome free that way,and even the Kids enjoyed seeing me come up there, as I always had some new project going on of some sort.Just a suggestion, if you do not have the tools/ to do.

Yea thanks these are some good suggestions. I'll double check when I get the subs in. The box is a Sound Ordnance one I ordered from crutchfield a few years ago, and I just looked it up again on their site and they still are selling it. A few of the reviews mention Alpine Type-R's, which actually have the exact same Cutout Diameter of 10-13/16". That makes me think that the box does indeed work, otherwise they would have had to mod it too and would have said something. We'll find out soon enough!

D: what? I would suggest getting a real box built too haha.

The choice was either pay this local woodworking place $350 to build me a simple box (those stingy bastards), build one without tools -- so use magic to form it, buy a new pre-built one, or use one that I already had. What would you pick?

Or pay one of the Vendors on here much less for a nice box...
That was an option too, but I didn't want to postpone the upgrade any longer and the difference in a nice box and the one I have isn't going to be a huge deal to me. This is for purely enjoyment on a daily level with low listening volumes, and the fact that there's a subwoofer at all makes the music better, which is my goal.

Next time given more patience and money to spend I would get better stuff, but I don't have either of those at the moment. Haha.

They can get decently loud if done right... I would just slap them in a cheap prefab though
That's the plan! I'm going to try to fix my stock electrical and make sure the voltage is stable and then try to buy a used amp on here that's nicer than the crap Sony Xplod one I got for $35. At least it'll move them in the time being, but definitely going to upgrade the amp soon.
