I don't know if anyone here has a stratus but if you do you know that the dash speakers are 3.5" and sit way the hell up front in an almost impossible position to get out and the doors contain some 6.5's inchers. The rear deck has a pair of 6x9's also.
As of right now I have 2 10's in a bandbass box (ma audio 100xe's) and because the bandpass box creates so much air pressure in the trunk I opted to go with a 6x9 enclosure ( pair hk69's) which sits on top of the rear deck so that the 6x9's face forward.
I used to live in a high crime area so I never bothered to put anything really nice in my car. Now that I have moved into a nice house in the burbs away from that I started to upgrade from the legacy junk I had before.
I know ma audio isn't the best but I'm not trying to win contests
The subs are powered by an m689i and I have the 6x9's being run by an m489i.
I was wondering what would be my best bet to put upfront so I can get rid of the crap stock speaker junk.
I wanted to go with components but after reading a few threads I see that most people recommend sealing off the doors and using kick panels to mount them. From what I gather so far an install can make or break a component system but
I was just thinking I'd just slap the woofer into the door and mount the tweeter somewhere along the inside edge where the window glass meets the body. There is a nice piece of plastic body molding here where wire can be run behind and the tweeter can be mounted to it. I was wondering if this would be a viable option for a component system
OR
should I just get some replacement 2-way 3.5's for the dash and some replacement 2 way 6.5's for the doors?
I primarily listen to rock (tool, slayer, slipknot) and some occasional rap. The HU I am using currently is a blaupunkt mp3000 which isn't too bad but is way short on features. I plan on upgrading the HU as my last piece. The pioneer 780mp or the pioneer 980 soemthing that has the bluetooth capability for future use with my phone.
I want to get the best out of my front stage so I can just ditch my 6x9's.
Can anyone offer some sugestions or give me some pointers?
