That might be true as well, but Zaph did do it and took actual measurements. zaphaudio.commaybe it was sounddomain that they did a test. im pretty sure someone put a sub in the freezer and tried it after and there was nothing wrong with using a cold sub.
Never does he say it's "too cold" or "bad' from a safely standpoint, he just shows how poorly the driver performs.
There are plenty of speakers designed for outdoor use that I'm sure do just fine in the extremes. I don't know if car audio speaker manufacturers put any thought into this factor in their design, but I've had lots of different speakers and have never killed one in the cold weather....even if I crank it hard, like I usually do. You just have to know your system and use your ears.
