Simply put, there is no single sub that is going to guarantee high numbers in the 38-40 range. It will be a combination of your sub choice, box tuning, amp power, and box size that dictates how loud you'll be at a given frequency.

the enclosure makes or breaks a sub, i can get a sony xplod 12 louder than a nightshade 18 depending on the encosures
