What subs give over 2" excursion ?

i've seen lots of excursion videos look like that

even some released by the manufacturer

they wouldn't release those vids if the surround wasn't supposed to do it

think it's just a fact of life

and btw my IDmax's did that too and took it fine.

Pretty much all the videos u can find on ROE of IDMax's show great excursion

Not exactly, but that's the idea.
Cone motion above tuning will generally always be less than sealed with the same power.

Cone motion below tuning begins to pick up VERY rapidly because of unloading, where the sub begins to almost play 'free air.'

I never said ported (above tuning) would have more excursion than sealed. I never even compared excursion between the two beyond ported will generally have less than sealed. Isn't that exactly what you are saying too?

And I fully realize why cone motion increases below tuning. I did not contradict your comment on the subject with anything I said.

i dont think they are the greatest sub in the world...but i had an RF T2 in my car for like a week in a huuugeee box with tons of port and it could move like 3 inches one way, no lie. dan saw it and then the cone popped out, lol.

no.... because a properly designed surround wont do it...
its just the stupidly wide surrounds that do it... if the surround is narrower, but higher roll, then it wont distort.
