what sub for small box and 300wrms

im building a box right now for 3 10s, its a sealed box with 3 different chambers...and about 1.66cubes per chamber.

im only wanting about 1000watts rms for this part of my install, so about 300watts per sub. what do you guys suggest?

im not wanting to spend more than $200ea for them, and they need to have some SQ. prob a 60/40 of SPL/SQ.

maybe some EDs?

Elemental Designs K-series comes to mind. http://www.edesignaudio.com. 3 of those guys would be friggin sweet. 300 watts a piece should be pretty good to them as well.

i was thinking of those too...but the site suggests .75 cubes each for a sealed box.

1.66 cubes wouldnt be too big? thats over twice the suggested size

They would be fine, they can also handle about 600 rms, so you will be giving them half the rated power, so the compensation in box size will actually most likely do them well.

Actually, ED rates the 10" for ~400-450 in most applications. As for the box, it may be a little too big. I had my 10" SE in 1.7 cubes sealed, and it was nowhere near it's full potential. So either i'd try to make a smaller box, or try to port them(this would be sweet).

well theres not much chance of making a smaller box...maybe i should just port it, wouldnt be that big of a deal.

would an SE in 1.66 cubes sealed @ 300wrms be louder than the EDK would be in something slightly smaller, but ported at the same wattage?

The SE would sound pretty good, but you can feed it twice that power and then it'll really be happy. I don't know how they act with that kind of wattage, mines never gotten less than 600-700.

you can put something in the box to take up room to effectively reduce the box size. i've done this with books. i even put a cheap gas canister in one box because it was way too big hehe

I'd say port them pretty low, 26-28. With three subs it will still get very loud. If you value spl a little more you could go at about 32, but i'd say thats the highest i'd go for a daily driver.
