What size gauge speaker wire for subwoofer

ordering wire today, I need to know what size wire to buy for wire from amp to subwoofer and subwoofer to box terminal

amp will be pushing it at 400 watts, will be running it 5 feet

not sure what else information is needed?

I run 12 gauge for subs and 14/16 gauge for main speakers.

You can use 8 gauge wires for subs but that's kinda overkill unless you've got thousands of watts going through it.

i got 10 gauge American Bass Megaflex wire, $10 shipped for 10 ft.

even though 16 will be fine for what you're doing.
