what size fuse for ppi ba7000.1 amp?

Hi guys, just got my new ppi ba7000.1 amp and looked in the manual for what this amp calls for and did not say.

not sure what size fuse is needed for this amp.

was told 250amp, does that sound right?

you guys running this amp what are you useing?

thanks
u dont fuse for the amp u fuse for the wire..250 for cca 300 for ofc

I just dont get it.

explain why I dont need to fuse the amp?

all but the bigger amp have fuses on the amp. These fuses are protecting the amp.

I know we fuse the wire with in 12" from battery. I get that and I have a 250amp fuse about 8" from the battery.

so what if my amp manual says to use a 150amp fuse. Does that mean dont use a 150 at the amp?.

I really dont get whats protecting the amp ?

I want a fuse at the amp to protect it. Right?

so does that mean amps dont need to be fuse?

why are smaller amps fused on the amp ?

you get what im saying?

I just dont get it.

I know to fuse for the wire size and type. But thats only protecting the wire, what about the amp?

do you have a link that explains all this?

I need confirmation on why not fuse at the amp..

U do fuse at the amp but its bot to protect the amp u fuse to protect the wire which is why u fuse at max wire capacity. I know its hard ti understand bc most ppl think u fuse delending on what amp u are running

Proper fusing can actually save your amp. That's why many manufacturers have fuses built into the boards of their amps. The catch being if you're fused properly to protect your amps you will likely open some fuses here and there when you push things. If you have a fuse on your amp that you've never opened you'll never protect the amp. Also some fuses open faster than others so your best methods would become a bit messy.

I guess that amp is like a 3K amp or so? Start with 150A of fusing and work your way up gradually if you open fuses. Again, if you can't open a fuse while playing music it likely won't protect the amp if something bad happens..

see this is what im talking about.

my main wire is fused for the wire. no i have i think its a 160amp fuse right before my ppi 1800.1 amp.

thats why i asked what size fuse for the 7000.1 amp as im sure it would take a bigger fuse then my 1800 amp.

im sure you can see were im confused, as some say you dont really need a fuse at the amp, you just fuse the wire....

then what is protecting the amp?

i would feel better putting a fuse right before my amp as it does not have fuses on the amp.

then ill leave the fuse i have now and see how it does.

Woah woah woah, so my life is a lie? My PPI BK 1800.1D calls for a 160Amp fuse, because it has no internal fuses? If This is not true, my amp would be fine with a 250 Amp Fuse? If I pulled more then 200 amps I am sure my amp would fry LOL. Don't get a short in your wire if use a fuse bigger then what is called for, for the amp, because POP and Smoke.

exactly......... thats what im saying.

im sure we all know you have to fuse for the size wire and type of wire. that goes by the battery's.

now we have an amp that does not have a fuse built in. so we have to fuse right before the amp to help protect it.

You are correct. What wattage are you going to be running? Like if you burped what would your wattage be? Just calculate that current from that and put a fuse that is 10 amps bigger in before the amp. I'm just surprised there isn't a recommended fuse size.
