i have 2 12" P1's, and wondeing what size of box i should make, going ported, in a mitsubshi lancer, looking for sql

That would not be sql more like spl, if you want sql and dont care about it being loud then go sealed.

I don't know about those subs in particular, but when done right, ported always sounds better. Being more efficient helps a ton, and lets you run less amp for the same response.

I agree that tuning them low with a lot of space would sound the best for the biggest variety of music.
