What really happened with RE?

Would you go against your beliefs or values for the pursuit of monetary gain?

Well If I had put all my time and effort into it, and there was no other way, but to sell out. I guess I wouldnt have a choice.

You also gotta think, if they would have went under, alot of people would have gotten screwed, if they had wanted recones, or needed warrenty work. Also have to take that into consideration

If you go to a Re dealer you could prolly talk them down to around the same price that they used to be at. Most likely the dealers are getting the stuff way below what Re used to sell direct so their making a profit reguardless.

Yes. I am anti-war, yet I work for a place where we try everyday to develop missiles, nukes, and jets that can kill as many people as possible. I also trade options on the side, the only way I make money is if another person loses thiers. At my Lowe's job, we sell overpriced crap to people to make them feel better about themselves. You got to be about something, me I'm about the money.

Companies go under all the time, with not even the possibility of replacement parts or service. Atleast by selling out, they can continue with after-sale service.

I doubt I will ever buy an RE product as they are out of my price range. So is Ferrari, but I don't hate on them.

This issue is a classic case of market vaccuums. When RE went mainstream (thus, higher prices, or atleast the perception of them) there was a need in the market for quality subs direct at low prices. Fi filled that void. When Fi does whatever they do in the future (bankruptcy, mainstream, quit altogether) another company, in some capacity will fill that void.

You don't marry a stock and you don't marry a sub. I think some of you feel that once you buy a sub, you are in a family or married or something. I bought this Fi and in a few years I will probably throw it away and buy something else.

well dont you think that dealers might be selling them and ordering more? this isnt the internet anymore...a much larger customer base
Here is my beef with RE. This is in no way aimed at you, you're my Californian brutha'.

RE may have sold out, great. What kind of money did they put into devloping this new line of drivers? Idea, don't try to expand your line if you arent confident in your ability to design, produse, and finance it. Custom tooling is amazingly expensive. So instead of looking at actively expanding their dealer network (researching dealers and calling them asking "would you like to carry RE, our woofers hold such and such records and are used and endoresed by such and such compeditors") They decided to try and up the ante' on the bandwagon.

So, now I cant get an RE woofer except online from wholesalers selling at an amazing $75 under MSRP or direct from RE at MSRP because my closest dealer is over three hours away.

Lets look at the senario that a shop carries JL, Kicker, MTX, Eclipse, and RE.

Kid walks in with a $3000 budget and wants something nice. They see this RE MX mounted in the display wall, it looks fancy with lots of bling. But it also has the MSRP price tag of a w7 (most dealers post the MSRP then tell them they are making them a 'deal' later on). Their friend has a w7 and it hits hard. Who the **** is RE? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Well I think I will get that W7.

RE has done in ~7 years what took JL 20+, Roxford Fosgate 30+, MTX 20+, and USamps what? 18 years? USamps still isnt widely known except with audiophiles (widely known comapred to the above mentioned companies).

See the difference? They where not ready to move to a JL-like mainstream when the people who KNEW RE where the few thousand reading on the forums and actually paying attention at car shows and competitions.

Some people bash RE to hop on the RE bashing bandwagon, yes. Others are kinda ticked for a reason. Nothing agianst USamps. USamps saved RE's ***.

X2

And one more thing before I end my rant.

Had RE expanded their dealer network, had people like me who knew RE run RE and tell people so and so dealer carries this company, business would have grown much smoother and would have stayed more profitable.

When I installed 4 RE 8's into a friends truck and people heard it they where asking me where to get it, how much does it cost. Not long after that RE went off and did this and it was no longer a good deal for them to buy RE...so I couldnt tell them where to get it for a decent price.

I hope US amps and RE go to Circuit City, imagine a guy in a red polo showing you the awsome RE MX powered by an US amp merlin d2 on the display case.

Oh yea, don't forget the service plan, too little power might blow your MX.
HAHA!!

The only thing is Circuit City Roadshop's don't wear polo's, They wear button-ups.

And the service plan is for the people that run their subs with full gain on high-pass as most of our idiot customers do.

If RE is trying to get more authorized dealers, then people can go to the dealer and get the sub they prefer for almost the same price before(not sure if that made since)

example: i called RE bout 2 months ago and asked how much a 15" SE would cost and i believe they said 400+ and then i called a dealer in socal and they quoted me around 200.

So i guess what im trying to get acroos is that if their trying to get more dealers then you can go to them and get your preferred sub with warranty for almost the same price.

Well although i agree with most of your post, in order for them to continue with certain lines they had to be changed unless they wanted to pay royalty to Adira for thier trademarked XBL2 design.

As for the MX/W7 reference, everyone i know when they buy a system looks at numbers rather then the look of the sub.
