What Parts are Needed

Hi everyone, I'm new here, this is my first post!

I have a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I want to install a new head unit. The one I want to install is a double din unit. Here is the list of parts I think I need:

The head unit: JVC KWAV61BT Receiver

Wiring harness: can't seem to find a model number online for this.

Dash kit: Metra 95-6511 Chrysler/Jeep DDIN Dash Kit

Steering wheel control: for this, I'm not sure what I need. I'd like to retain the use of the steering wheel controls. From my net searching, it looks like I either need the Axxess Metra ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control or the Pac Rp4-Ch11 Radiopro4 Interface. It seems to me the Pac one is specifically for this vehicle so it is more plug and play, but the Axxess one is universal and $40 cheaper.

So, to sum it all up, two questions.

What is the difference between the Pac and Axxess steering wheel control modules?

Is my list of parts good or do I need more/less items?

Go to crutchfield look up your jeep and they will tell you everything you need

Thanks mylows. I did check crutchfield and thats how I came up with most of this list. Though crutchfield doesn't show that I'd need a wiring harness, is that correct? Plus I still want to know what the difference is between the Pac and AXXESS steering wheel control interfaces. Crutchfield has some nice information, but I was hoping for someone who knows this stuff.

The universal ones sometimes don't work on every car. Go with the specific one for your jeep. You'll be better off and you might want to check out metra online as well. They'll be more specific

Thanks. I purchased the specific one. It should arrive on Friday and I'll do the install over the weekend. I'll post how it goes.

So it seems the PAC steering wheel unit also doubles as the wiring harness so I don't need a separate one. Here's what I purchased:

the head unit

the Metra dash kick

the PAC steering wheel control

However, it seems there is one more item I need. An antenna adapter. However, I can't seem to find the one for my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Stopped by the electronics store, and they didn't have any that fit. Anyone have any ideas?

And the biggest issue. The head unit does not fit. Yup, that's right. Jeep did not leave enough space in the back for a standard double din unit. There is this stupid plastic bar that gets in the way. I'm going to have to Dremel it out.
