What multimeter for x-mas?

depends on how much you use it and what you use it for. i never buy cheap if i'm going to use it often. i do maintenance, so i use mine at work and at home/car. the ones with the clamp are quite convenient btw.

i have another fluke for sale...just sold one not long ago here...i have another one, very expensive model, retails for 700ish, will be up for sale for $200 obo. pics tomorrow or monday

Fluke meters are good, the more you pay the more accurate the meter will be. Even if you only use it a couple times a year I wouldn't spend less than $100.00 retail for one new. the cheapies aren't worth it they are not accurate. on the other hand i also wouldn't spend more than $150.00 on one unless i was using it in a lab or something where i needed real precision then i t would be cost is no issue and id get the best i could. For around a hundred bucks your going to get a fairley precise reliable, durable piece of equipment.
