is there any things to look for in build quality that stands out, like the type of metal used for the basket, rubber/foam surround?

honestly, you can't ever really tell until you use it and figure out what is "good" and what is "bad" about the sub. Listen to peoples feedback, look at company's previous history, look at their buildhouse(if you know), look at products coming out of that buildhouse, etc. There's alot of factors to look at, like some people would say that the Adire Brahma should not be a good sub in SQ because it uses a high foam surround and a paper cone but we all know how good of a sub the brahma has been in terms of SQ and output. What makes a good sub IMO is how many people are happy that they purchases it, so ask people what they like and why and maybe you'll find your good sub.

A good sub is one that fits your application, which includes, but not limited to, your taste in music, vehicle, size restrictions, budget, and available power.

To me, a sub that fits well into those categories is a good sub.

the reaon i say build quality because ive seen bad and good quallity built subs, some are made for show and not really for performance. what type of coil and how much is used on the sub, leads, surrounds, and type of cone, it all plays a factor in if a sub is good or not

Cool, i've allways wondered where everyone got what sub was crap vs tha sh*t. well, besides hearing one for yourself. But of course i've herd a W6 sound like a pile of garbage, but i installed mine and it puts about everything else i've owned to shame. thanks for all your imput guys.

ahhh, i'm even going there. i'm sure they are great subs. i've never heard one myself, but i know they are not the only good sub. and by far i they're not the best sub outa all the other makes and brands.
