Just like the title says, what kind of audio guy are you? What is your favorite part of a good sounding system? And if you use terms like airy or warm, please elaborate. I know what warm tang is like but I don't get the whole warm sound thing. And describe your system a little and some of the things you have done to acheive said sound in your system.

I guess I should go first.....well I am fairly certain that I am an SQ guy. I definately like bass and lots of it, especially since I listen to alot of Rap and R&B but I don't like sloppy farting bass, I just want it to be like what the artist intended. I like it to rumble when it is supposed to rumble and shake when it supposed to shake.

I like to hear everything in my music all the way down to the finger pics on a guitar (I listen to classic rock as well, plus whatever kind of rock you might call Rage Against the Machine, Linkin Park, Rob Zombie, etc.) I like everyting to be even too, where one thing is not significantly louder than another...........except for bass of course. This is why I think that an EQ'd metal tweet is better than a silk, well at least from the few I have heard which is not extensive (and recently at a Fry's, Al & Eds and a Circuit City).

hmmm i guess i'm pretty much a bass head. i love my highs to sound as close to perfect as they can. not harsh tho i think that's why i like silk dome tweets. highs eq'ed to be just right. i listen to just about anything but there is nothing better then when someone is ridin' with me and the bass hits and the passanger says god dam that's sick. you know when the bass hits and blurs your vision that's what it's all about. is that what your lookin for?

So what have you done or plan to do in your system to acheive this........a wall of woofers???? No really though........2 15's ported and tuned to 35hz running 1000+ each? And I definately would like to acheive the blurred vision but with clean bass.

2-12's koves ported to high 30's with the port in the center that goes inbetween the bucket seats. 8 cuft after sub dis. braceing blah blah. 750 going into each in a regular cab s10 blow thru of course. with the box pushed thru the hole and sealed up to keep the cab the same volume. the bass is very clean now if i can just stop everything else from rattleing i'd be in good shape. yup it will blur your vision and hurt your ears after a few mins. i gotta keep em turned down most of the time and off when my sons in the truck. i'll let him ruin his own ears in do time.

I am pretty much like the author of this thread. I like bass but only when the music is supposed to have it. I had a set of Boston acoustics 6.4 pro's in a pair of kick panels I made with 100W a side and they got so loud but they sounded so clear!!! Even with the sub off, they rocked! I love being able to listen to stuff loud but clear. I HATE distortion and crappy bass. The bass needs to be tight!

I can't get enough bass, I want to be able to turn it up and feel like I can't breathe b/c of all the bass. But I also like sq, expecially in the voices, and crisp trebble. I can't stand distortion, and I can't stand being in someone elses car who doesn't have their system configured correctly, (ie. crossover is set way too high, bass or trebble is turned up way too high on the h/u, or they clip the crap out of their speakers and don't seem to notice.)

I am a SQL guy. System isn't there yet, but I'm working on it (finally). And when I say SQL, I don't just mean bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I want to be able to feel guitar pics in my chest, just like they sound (feel) when you are there sitting next to it.

I like what's appropriate. Meaning, I like that rumble you get, but only if it's supposed to be there. I personally find it annoying when I'm listening to old In Flames album and instead of the guitars the drums are overwhelming. I wanna feel that snap as the kickbass drum is hit, not just the resulting bass.I wanna hear the sound a piano makes between hitting the key and the key striking the chord. I wanna hear the sound made as a finger slides from one end of an acoustic guitar to the other between notes.

Going the other way around, when a song has bass, I wanna feel it. I want to feel it more than hear it! I want that long running bass in the new Skinny Puppy to force me to adjust the rear view mirror over 40 seconds. I want that kick to be so hard that people I'm riding with go "What the h*ll was that?"

And I want to do it without the help of an equalizer or a bass knob. Picky, aren't I?

im an SQL guy too.

i want to be able to turn the volume so high that people squint.

but i want them to make me turn it down to tell me it sounded awesome. i dont care what kind of music goes in, it needs to come out like its supposed to.

if im listing to dropkick murphys, i want the bagpipes to scream, and the kickdrum to pound. but when im drivin down the street with my buddy sean listning to late nite tip. i want him to be impressed (he is the basshead of bassheads) and say "holy shit dude"

i want people to look at the car, and not realize its got a system. but when they get in, i want them to say "are those 8" speakers in the doors? and whats that box under the dashboard..." so i can tell them those are my midranges and my tweeters. when they look in the trunk ... i want their eyes to pop out at a 15 in a nice glassed box with all the xovers\eq's\amps and pretty fiberglassed stuff and say - "jesus christ" how much did this cost?!

and then be able to say "under $2000 for everything ;)"

i need my car to sound good. and i turn it off if it dosnt. and lately ive been driving my dads car because all i have is my tempest and 2 6.5" mids off the HU //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bawling.gif.6287aa5d1d447c8af063fc9466e822ef.gif

SQL, but exactly how much depends on what mood I'm in. If I'm driving around in a bad mood, I want to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up from the SPL...if I'm on a long trip, I might want to listen to something more relaxed and mellow to make the miles slip by //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Same thing goes at home. If I'm throwing a party, I'll do it on the NAD 3020 and JBL bookshelves, instead of the Decware Zen and MTM's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But I'd much rather *listen* to music on the tube amp.
