I got my kicker KX700.5 today. 4 channels plus 1 sub. When i hook it all up and set the gains low i turned it on and it started tuning off then on then off then on. each time it didnt sound too good. I messed with the gains and the only way i can get it to play without clipping off if to have the subs completly off. I wored my sub to 2, 4, and 8 ohm and nothing helps! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Anyone got any opinions im so mad rite now, this amp cost a pretty penny.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

Is anything wrong with the subs? Perhaps a shorted coil? Have you tried another amp on them since the problem happened?

Im not sure man this is the first time this amp has even been used. the sub was wouking great all the ways till my last amp blew. this is quite frustrating since the shops here in town are JERKS. I have nowhere to turn except for here. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i disconneted the sub and it plays fine!! Does this mean the sub is bad?? HOPEFULLY because a new type r is dirt cheap. Or maybe a mach 5 maw-12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

probably. do you have another speaker to hook up to that channel? if you have another speaker and it does the same thing, then you have a problem with that channel.

Your old amp probably blew because of a problem with the sub. Again, perhaps a shorted coil and the protection failed to save the amplifier. So yes, new subs are probably your best bet to fix the problem based on what we know.

cool! i just happen to know a friend who has a few type r's on hand. When i get off work ill test the channel with a spare 10". Thank guys, hopefully this will solve my problem.

Also this amp kicks, the speakers sound amazing with it, if only the sub was firing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

HELL YEA!!!! it works, i hooked it to sum old pioneer 10" and its great. I going to have to get a new type r from my homie now!
