What is wrong!? Smaller wattage system

Went to start the car the other day and it wouldn't start. System has been hooked up for a little over a month. Running at 2-ohms. Got a jump and it kicked up right away, took the freeway home. Went home and took my amp/sub out. Started right up and has been ever since the system has been out. I think the stock alt is an 83-amp. Battery is nothing special it came with the car when I got it, they said they put a newer one in but you can't trust a salesman all the time or maybe not often for that matter. I know the only way to be sure is to test it out myself or to have someone do it, but, does this sound like a familiar problem to anyone?

ANY input is greatly appreciated.

A new battery huh? Any input on what I should be looking for in a new battery? I was worried my alt was the cause of it all.

If I was too add a second battery to my current one how would I got about doing that?

So you guys don't think it was my alt.?

Your remote turn-on is connected correctly, right?

If not, your amp may be drawing idle current all the time which would eventually run the battery dead.

Your alternator is plenty large for a ~500-600w system.

If your alt had failed it wouldn't charge while you were driving, and since you're already having signs of a weak battery it would probably run dead in a matter of minutes. Jump starting wouldn't help much because the instant the jumper cables come off the battery would be on its own.

Seems like a weak battery or improper installation.

Most any chain parts store can do a free load test on your battery. They should be able to check the alt too.

Turn on lead is installed correctly as far as I know. I got the lead hooked up to the amp-rem wire on the back. There was 2 too choose from, ant-rem and amp-rem. When I turn the deck off, the amp turns off as well. I always turn the deck off before I shut the car down. So as far as I know its not the install. Must be the battery then. Any suggestions for a new battery setup?
