What Is The Significance Of The Fuse Rating On An Amp?

I believe it means that when you buy an amp wiring kit it has to have a fuse of at least 50 amps. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

How much current the amp draws can give you an idea (estimation) of how much power it puts out. i.e. if an amp rated for 1000w has a 20a fuse it's pretty **** likely the amp is very overrated.

Sometimes companies who overrate their amps will put a bigger fuse in the amp, uually a fuse 10 to 15 amps less, and for example a 500 watt amp with a 15 amp fuse you'd know that that amp wuldnt be able to do 500 rms at all but with a amp with 500 rms and a 60 amp fuse that is more reasonable, just remember you get what you pay for
