I had mine in a 1.25 cubic ft box and it was perfect for my application. If you have the box in your trunk facing the rear go with the 1.25 but if it faces the front or directly into the cabin I'd go with 1.5 to 1.6 IMO. Use whatever dimensions you need to reach that volume. My 1.25 was:

width 22

Height 15

top depth 7.5

bottom depth 11.5
