What kind of music do you listen to?

Do you want an 8, 10, 12, or 15 inch woofer?

How much power do you have to send to it?

What vehicle do you have?

teh people that ask this kind of question are generally not looking for sound quality. I would say go with a 12" L7, that will hit hard and is reltively cheap

very general question that cannot be answered. period. the install is more of what will tell you what sub is "better" there is no answer as to what sub is best. a JL w7 is 600 bucks..a good sub. but without the right install will still sound like shit as to what it could. if you tell us what you will be using it for. what kind of amp you have/ are going to get, if you want SPL or SQ or SQL. trunk space, box specs, etc. theres much more than the sub that will tell you what sub is better.

We gotta keep in context with the user. Ok, he's been here a month, 26 posts, probably his first system; he doesn't know what to expect. Probably just that signature bump. We can guess like most newcomers, he'll be running sealed in an unoptimized install with a healthy level of clipping. In this situation, the sub does make quite a difference.

Sure, why not. Incriminator Audio 187. Rated 300wrms, I've pushed 7 times that to one DD off an MTX 1501D. They put up high numbers; they are tough as nails; work well sealed; sound good; and only cost ~$100 + shipping each. =)
