What is phase on a amplifier and what does it do?

If the phase setting is 0 degrees or 180 degrees it does the same thing as switching the positive and negative wires on the speakers. It's a harmless setting to play with. If you have a phase adjustment for your subwoofer amp it will probably either sound good or you will have no bass up front. Leave it on the setting that sounds good up front.
