What is more important for sq setup, fq response, or power handeling?

I can run two 12" alpines in the space I have avaliable. But that isn't what I am hung up on. Just curious about power vs fq response. I prefer sealed as the range is greater. Ported kinda limits my fq range. I will remeasure my max depth and see about the models, and check into the mkIIIs as well. I agree with a ten being solid. I have put a few in open cab vehicles like jeeps, camaros, etc... and they sound awesome. Those are open space though. This enclosure will be in a trunk, suspended from the rear deck, firing down, in a well sound deadened enviornment. I am right with you on 10s though.

Since the enclosure will be firmly attached to the cars frame, I was going to leave it sealed, or play with porting. I am a fabrication pro, just not at this subwoofer technical stuff. Please don't criticize too much. I am trying to understand. I mounted my truck subwoofers in a box welded to the chassis, under the truck. Enough bass to send a crack up my windshield. I figured, a sub box is a box. As long as bass is produced and heard, it didn't matter. Like I said, still learning.

How big is the rear deck? If you have the space, I would remove the rear speakers and work on ventilating the rear deck a little bit more as well. From there, as long as the space between the enclosure and the rear deck is open, it really doesn't matter which way the subs face, good sound will get into the cabin. If possible, I would actually have the subs fire up into the well ventilated rear deck, rather than down.

I was considering closing off the rear deck and laying a pair of 4" Morel Elites on tom of a well deadened surface. I Am pretty apposed to porting the enclosure at this point. I am also learning that a single 12" Morel Ultimo (non SC) at 1500 rms + will be plenty.

From what I have read from numerous credible review sources a spare tire elimination works well for this particular woofer. As I am not doing this and locating the woofer closer to the cabin and giving it the air it wants I think the response will be good.

A second design has the woofer firing into the cabin and using the rear deck enclosure as its box. This design will require a lot more work to include the removal of the rear glass for sub install. Not something I really want to mess with, although it is an option.

Anyone for or against a single Morel Ultimo 12 rather than 2?

I am seriously considering a single Morel Ultimo 12 firing into the cab (mounted above the deck) with the enclosure mounted below the rear deck. I will just fab a matching speaker grill in the center of the cover. Not looking too difficult.
