What is Better for my Car???

So I recently bought a 1994 Acura Integra and I want to completely change the sound system sue to the crappy one that is there now. I have been looking around and I am stuck on a few things. Is it better for me to get component speakers with separate woofers and tweeter, or the speakers with both built into one package. Also, depending on which choice i make, do I need to run these through an external amp if I am using a head unit such as the Alpine CDA-9856? I think that is all for now and I am sorry if some of these are obvious, but I am kinda new at car audio. Thanks again.

Components sets are better, because u can set the sound stage and imaging better. Never power off the head unit unless ur living off of food stamps. a good 2 channel amplifier would be fine if ur just replacing the front speakers.

I am planning on replacing the fronts as well as the rears and if I chosse components, then I will be adding the tweeters. Also, I was thinking of something like a Bazooka tube amp because I don't care about thumping bass, I just want very crisp and clear sound. I know those have an amp built in, so I guess the best for me is to get another amp for the speakers. For four 6-1/2 and the two tweeters, what kind of poer do I need? Thanks

I'd recommend doing the following to maintain a good sound stage and imaging:

4 Channel Amp

2 channels running the front components.

2 channels bridged running a sub.

Run the rear speakers off the rear channels of the HU if you absolutely want rear fill.

As far as amp power goes, it all depends on what kind of components you choose and what kind of budget you have to buy an amp.

Few questions for ya...

1. Any idea of what your max budget is for just the comps, rear speakers, sub, and amp is going to be (not including install parts, labor, etc)?

2. What kind of music do you listen to?

3. Are you looking for clear (SQ), loud (SPL), or a combination (SQL)?

Answer those for us and we can definitely help you out more precisely. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

1. Budget - First of all, I would love to get rid of some Best Buy Money (total of about 270) After that, maybe add in about 400 or so. It does not have to be from Best Buy at that point, but if the stuff is worth it, then it might be nice.

2. I listen to many different kinds of music, anywhere from Alternative to Rock to soft rock, and then some more. I do not listen to much rap or bass thumping stuff.

3. I definately want clarity, and some volume would be nice, but I do not plan on blowing out the neighborhood.

Thanks for the help
