What is a more accurate reading?

I went and had my truck tested at 2 different shops. One of them put the meter on the dash and one of them held the meter above the dash. I was wondering if this makes a difference and if it does which one is more accurate because i had a big variation in the 2 scores.

151.3 on dash and 146 when he was holding it.

He was holding it above the dash away from the windshield and they were both Audiocontrol meters.

could be 170 mic on obe 190 on the other. to get a varance that great you are talking moving the mic feet in diffent directions to get that big of a variance.

Meca has a few different mic locations depending on which category you compete in (in the kick, at the headrest, etc).

DBDrag on the other hand always measures with the sensor above the dash, attached to the windshield.
