What is a badass high powered amp?

Well, I've been researching some high powered amps for quite a while, but it appears there aren't too many to pick from in the higher power ranges.

I am about 90% set on getting a TC-5200 in the future, but I just can't decide on what to power it with. I've searched around on the forums and found a few different possibilities, but I thought I'd see if there are any othres out there.

The TC-5200 wires down to 1.2 ohms according to their website, so I figure 2500 watts at 1 ohm will be nice for that sub.

Now for the amps I've looked into...

I've looked the JBL2200.1, but its only 1850 watts at 1 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

-Rockford T4001 or T3001 are both options.

-MTX TA92001 does 3000@1 ohm, but MTX is "eh" to me.

-Mmats D3500.1 does 2700@1 ohm... I've heard Mmats makes great stuff, but never heard them personally.

-Memphis MCD2500 does 2500@1 ohm

-Orion HCCA-D5000 also does 2500@1 ohm

This is pretty much all I've found. What are you guys' thoughts on these amps? Are there any others out there that are very nice amps in that power range? Budget isn't a huge concern, as long as the amp isn't 5 grand or something. Most of those are in the $1000-1500 range anyway.

Power Acoustik A3000DB 2300 RMS @ 1 Ohm

SPL Z1X-3000D 2300 RMS @ 1 Ohm

Kole Audio Q1-3000D 2300 RMS @ 1 Ohm

Not sure is this is RMS.

I'm powering my 5200 with the HCCA-D5000 and it ****in pounds. I drive a lot during the day, and I crank it for long periods of time and I have never smelt glue melting even once. The sub itself is a monster and the amp puts out a clean sound, no complaints on either end.

I say impress your friends, go with a U.S. amps VLX-400 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif 2400 and underrated. Now it is A/B so a bit harsh on the electrical, but it does a good job. Old school too.

USA-800 can do 3,000 watts, but its into 2 ohms.

Both would be hard to find. I've seen the VLX-400 for sale, not seen an 800 in over a year.

I was leaning toward the Orion or the Rockford originally, I'm glad you guys posted up some positive reviews for them.

I am going to have to look into those Cadence amps, I remember some people saying they made good stuff.

dumple - IA 20.1 doesn't put out the power I need. It is 1800@1 ohm, I need another 700 watts.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any other amps out there in this power range?

if you have the electrical to back it up u can run it at .25-.5 daily and easily get that extra 700 rms

i thought 20.1 was overrated?
