What hurts a subwoofer?

i mean same setup but subs inverted..still having the amps in the middle..like this....... SUB 0 AMP 0 SUB....on top of the box you know what i mean...i know it will not hurt anything if the magnets were inside the box..but what if they were outside the box and everything else is the same

MDF is not a magnetic barrier...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

It'll be fine. With the amp on the box the vibrations MAY hurt it, but not likely.

ex:if you have a ported enclosure and its tuned high above 35 hz.......by playing tones or music below the tuning frequency without a SSF (subsonic filter) can damage your subwoofer.

Was that for me? Cause that has nothing to do with what showrides said. Just asking if you were trying to put up an example for what he said.

thanks..i think thats what i wanted to hear...cause my subs are outta the old box just sittin in the back of my suv with the old sub box outta my suv..the subs are next to my amp...i will keep HU turned off till i get everything installed

Why not take them inside?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Please explain.
His example had nothing to do with what i said. I was talking more about sub used in a HT setup.

For example, when I hooked up my mag to a home theater amp there was no crossover and the sub was playing a large range of frequencies. Subs aren't designed to play over 100hz and after playing them like that for long periods of time you can damage the sub. Subwoofers are not designed to have their coils sit at rest playing high frequencies, so don’t play it without a crossover.
