what happens when an EE goes to court to fight a speed camera ticket?

I did not make the case that the system is incapable of issuing valid fines.

I just used my specific case to prove it was wrong this time.

I also taught them how to prosecute these cases. Just do what I did!

so now the real question I pose to the group...

should I change my taillights?

i have aftermarket tail lights on. They are unique. The image of these will haunt the captain and sherriff (who was cocky at first, then pissed as hell that his expert had his arse handed to him).

if i leave them, and they see them again (speed cam or in person) will they avoid me or harass me?

i can put stock back on and blend it...

what says ye?

FYI - i was also the best dressed in the room, and i was extremely professional and respectful. I was calm, collected, and straight. no laughter, to smirks, no sarcasm. just serious and nice.

i was also nervous as hell. i thought i had to pay for the "expert's" flight!! i asked at the end, turns out i don't. whew.

seriously, you would have thought M. J. Fox was taking notes for me at the start of it!!!!

but before you can be brave, you need to be scared.

CoolStoryBro!!

I am forwarding it to several old college buds, lol.

You handed them their arse, for realz, and you went to a lot of time, trouble, and expense to do so.... I would not deign to change my taillights, now!

winnar!

Last time I got out of a ticket was because the officer somehow put in the wrong name.

I explained that my name was not Spivey Wayne as this is not what is on my birth certificate and the ticket was dropped.

Come at me bro

Also, no I wouldn't change the tails. If youre not doing anything wrong, they still can't do anything to u. As long as you're not a speed demon, I say keep em.

Sick story btw, said it before and I'll say it again. I wanna be like u when I grow up

well in Colorado all you have to do is ask for the witness to be brought in to testify against you.lol you also have to prove that it was you driving the vehicle so no photo no ticket

you also have to prove that it was you driving the vehicle so no photo no ticket
not for Iowa.... it is a civil offense, not a moving violation. fine goes to vehicle owner - like a noise ordinance goes to the home owner. who is driving does not matter. that is the loophole Iowa uses.

cannot use the "witness" defense either. they have it flushed out pretty well.

photos prove it was your vehicle.

radar "proves" your speed.

you get the ticket.

to even have the chance to talk to a judge about your case - $180 if you lose + the cost of 3 trips (for me, 6 hrs of driving).

and no, i was NOT speeding at that time, or any time i go by there. i use cruise set at the speed limit. no moving violations for the past 9 years.

I've only gotten out of one for running a red light and was found guilty the first go so I contested it took a ton of pics to prove the officer was lying(he said he was able to see me and the light from his position, he was not!) so I went before the higher court and when they said they where dismissing the case due to having "lost" the paperwork I stood up and said no that's ok I brought them all! whole court room burst out laughing but I was dead serious I wanted that lying *** to have to stand up and say I lied! But of course he did not.

Keep the tail lights. Let them be reminded of you every time they see you.
my hope is they see those and realize they don't want the fight.

but they could forward my photo (rear view) to all departments.

the ticket was in another state and another county. i only pass through for work, maybe once per month.

but they know where i live and could discuss with IL.

i actually expected traffic court with a bunch of people. not a formal trial like you see on TV.

good thing i have the ability to get people to think what i want them to think by leading them through a thought process and they think the thought is their own. it made me a good salesman.

i am proud of myself for having the presence of mind to recognize that while i couldn't "talk", i had to get their witnesses to say what i wanted to say myself.

i actually taught them how to do their job!!!

i was in my normal work attire for meeting with clients, one step down from a suit (no jacket). dress shirt, tie, dress slacks, dress socks, dress shoes, tie clip, belt, etc. shaved and clean cut.

most people go there looking like white trash after a bar fight.
