what happens if I put a 10w7 in a sealed box smaller than JL's recommendation?

Will I lose SQ if I put my 10w7 in a box say 1.0 cu. ft net? I do not care about SP at all, the box I have now is too big and too loud for my taste. I always have the gain at minimum and it still loud. I want a box as small as possible without giving up sound SQ. Can you guys please suggest a box size I can go with to achieve this goal? Here's a pic of the box inside the trunk, it take up a lot of spaces //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Thank you all in advance for your help.

sorry about the double post, I dont' know how that happened. Yes I do have the gain all the way down. I'm trying to save space, I want the box as small as possible.

The gain is all the way down and it's too loud? What kind of insane preout voltage do you get? Try a small sealed, stuffed with polyfill. If that's still too loud.... maybe a subwoofer just isn't for you....

thanks for the reply, I got the preout signal from the stock subwoofer that came with the car, the car has a Mark Levinson system. If I go with a small sealed box stuff with poly, will the sound quality still good?

ya man jus go sealed. wouldnt have as much impact and also a space saver //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
