What gauge wire do i need?

Ive got a 2000w RMS monoblock amp powering a 2000w RMS 18" Sub with 0 gauge ran from the front to the amp...what size wire should i be running from the amp to the subs? Ive heard 12 gauge is fine but i dont wanna bottleneck the system at all so i would assume i would need thicker speaker wire. This is my first build so ive got a lot to learn. Opinions?

Run the biggest size that your amp allows. Usually 10 ga

Ia it possible to get thicker wire and run adaptors like some people do with grounds and power wire? I dont wanna lose any power or is it not enough to be noticable if i just go with 10 gauge speaker wire?

It's going to tell you something pretty big - depending on impedance and wire length. Probably about 8 to minimize losses. If the sub's a dual coil and the amp has dual outputs you could just run a 10 or 12 to each coil.
