What gauge power wire for amp

OK here is my problem, I had wires ran for my sub like 1 year ago, the power wire is Memphis Connection 8 Gauge, and the ground is 4 or 8.

My new amp recommends 4 gauge power and ground leads.

Witch brings me to my question, how will the difference effect my amps performance? Should I invest in some 4 gauge wire?

u need to have both power and ground the same ga. u can do 1/0 to a block then 4 to your amp and 4ga for your ground. or just run 2 ga all the way back. u shave some of the wire down with a knife.

Do you know any sites where I can just get some 4 gauge wire, I already have remote/rca cables ran, just need some wire.
