What ever happened to Snail Shell enclosures?

not nessiciarialy.

its just another type of horn. as long as the "lense" of the horn is there. like in a trumpet, or anything like that. its considered a horn. just like crossovers have different slopes, or ported boxes have different tuning, or there are different kinds of bandpass boxes, there can be different kinds of horn loaded enclosures.

To me, it is not a horn unless you can actually load it.

In which case, good luck making a horn in a vehicle.

snail shells aren't horns, they aren't transmission lines, they are crap //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Yea that's why I put snail shell in quotes, the OP wanted to see some different enclosure types, so there they are.

I've been thinking that too. But chances are the people who buy them don't really care if they differ from a TL or not, they're just concerned with how "hard it bumps" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is that a challenge?

How is that "snailshell" any different from a regular ported box?
The port is long and large enough for the 1/4 wave effects in the port it's self to effect the response (the port resonates like in a pipe organ, in addition to, but in a different way from how it resonates with the enclosure tuning), the result is significantly different from a box of the same net volume with the same tuning but using smaller, shorter (normal) ports.
