What else do I need? This is my system...

This system is in a 2004 Accord Coupe and it works with the stock HU

2 Sets of Focal Polyglass Speakers (Front and rears, rears dont use tweeter)

1 10" Diamond Audio D3 Subwoofer (Sealed)

1 AudioControl EQL

1 JL audio e6450 (Six Channel 450watt amp, powers 4 mids, 2 tweeters and Sub)

1 Navone 4 channel LOC

I want SQ audio only, I dont really hear it at very high volume specially the sub as I like it to blend in with the music not overpower the music, This is all running from the stock HU, gains are according to the HU clipping point ( amp and hu ) clip at the same time (thanks for your helpful post JMAC), the only thing that bothers me is the following

1. LOC... Do I get less quality by using it? would I be better off using the speaker inputs on the EQL?

2. HU... How much difference would I notice in SQ by using an After market HU?

3. How do I know if I am overloading the electric system of my car? How far can I go without swapping the alternator?

Thanx !

umm i think u need another EQL. unless u like to listen to music out of one channel. or unless u only want to equalize one channel. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The HU will make the biggest difference right now with your equipment. As for the electrical system, if you are experiencing dimming on your 450watts, you need a new alternator. A stock alt should be able to carry that load easy unless you've got your stereo playing with the volume cranked the AC on full blast, HIDs and high power foglights running all at the same time.

I would get an aftermarket HU and ditch the stock one. Much better quality.
true, and also that sub even with the LOC will never see enough power with that amp because of the lack of an HU/RCA's

I did a CM312 in my girls 2002 accord with an MTX 801D (750w)

while it made bass and she was happy ,it made no where neer the bass what it was supposed to make like it did with an HU and half the watts

Meaning, stock HU's,atleast in the Honda's case didnt provide neerly the voltage signal to get the CM3 slamming even with the gains at 90%,but in another car with a real hu and a smaller 500D amp at 60% gains setting it moved like a MOFO

So in other words, reconsider your HU,its a crutch big time IMO

also

you shouldent have any dimming/electrical issues with that amount of power,we didnt..

That Navone LOC is nice and sturdy ,but no better SQ than half the other 10.00 junk out there

heres a pic for your veiwing pleasure

Well I already have enough bass with my stock HU maybe because I dont like overwhelming bass as most people do.... and the EQL is a 2 channel I believe.... So will I get an incredible amount of sq changing the HU?

Yes, the more powerful outputs will let you turn the gain on the amp down which will lower the noise in your system. The better designed processing in the head unit will also have a better S/N ratio and a good one will have extra goodies like time alignment. That made a great difference in my car since I'm using stock location which aren't exactly optimal.

Had the same exact car with Navi, didnt wanna sacrifice the navi so I tried numerous different things.....LOC out to Kicker KX3,Arc MX3,AudioControl 6XS,etc. Finally ended up with my Arc DXE. I would still say to this day a HU would have been the best bet.

I was running

2 Arc 2500XXKs

1Arc 4150XXK

1Arc 2100XXK

BatCap400

No issues with volatge loss.

What HU would you guys recommend and also wich future would it have... what is time alignment?
it depends on the budget you have. i would go with an alpine 9853 at the moment. i like the display and the features, and how easy it is to use, it takes some getting used to. also for the strongest signal and best sound, i would go with an EQ. the best in dash EQ i have found out there are top of the line arc's and zapcos. but the bottom of the line zapco still towers over the top of the line arcs.
