what do you think about this setup?

in your oppinion would you go with the Alpines(420$pair), b stock SA 12's (150$each), or B stock SA 15's(170$each) for the money

and any amp suggestions?

i was looking to spend 600$ for the subs & a amp before i budget for a box build and wiring but im beggining to think ill squeeze 700$ to give myself room for a better amp.

this is my first real build where ill be focusing on ohms, box tuning, an such..ive slapped together systems before with w/e i could get my hands on but i want to get into car audio and make it a career one day so this will be an example to put my skills to the test and learn a little as i go

the SA's will get down regardless if they are 12s or 15s. either will get louder than the R's.

^ That.

The SA-12 or 15 will stomp all over the Type R. To give you an idea of power handling, I'm feeding my single SA-10, 1300+ rRms on music, daily. This is with my eD 9.1 amp, at 1 ohm. So you could get two SA-15d4 for $340, and get a used eD 9.1 amp around $150-200, and still be well under budget.

hows the SQ of the SA? im leaning towards either 2 12's or 2 15's. and a AQ1200D...... i found a eD 9.1 cheap on ebay used but i cant get the guy to message me back about its condition because hes selling it as-is

I finally heard an SA 12 the other day. and they're pretty clean. And plenty loud. Not an SQ sub, not an SPL sub. But get really low and clean while still getting loud. I'd def recommend one. Im going with sundown subs as well.

Sa-12

Oa-12

in that order. the oa are cheaper and play low...the sa is better built and will handle more power...both subs sound phenomenal and get loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

then get an amp from dbr or from sundowns used section

thanks for the input. i think im gonna go with the SA12's now i just need to decide on a amp

yeah ive been looking, so far im leaning towards the AQ1200D but theres a Hifonics 2607d in the classifieds for 250$ its a mono and rated 850@4ohmx1. anyone have any idea what the AQ is rated at 4ohm
I've heard nothing but good about the AQ1200D. But those sundowns can take more power than that. I dont know what kinda hifonics that is...but i had a brutus and they arent horrible but i hated mine because the effieciency was so bad. They seem very power hungry. there are sundown 1500ds on DB-r's site right now for around 275. refurbished, i just looked about 2 minutes ago! go grab one of those! that'll do better than that AQ. wire ur subs down to 1 ohm and ur golden! and i THINK there is warranty as well....im not completely sure on that though. But i know sundown amps are underrated. Only reason I dont have one is because I run my subs at 2 ohms now.

yeah i hear the AQ's are underated as well. but thats a good deal if its still in stock friday ill snatch it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/suave.gif.858fc102f7646e678ee8af7e1fbc41d1.gif

thanks

yes, check the DB-r website as Princ3mo suggested when you get some money together friday. if the Sundown 1500d is still available, I'd just all over it. Otherwise the AQ is your best bet.

The Hifonics amps are meh, except for the old school stuff. You're better off putting out an extra 50-100 bucks on a much better brand.
