ssl evolution 1600.4 by the way

I have a cheap SSL amp I found outside my uncle's house one day. From the little testing I did with it, it sounds like crap. It has alot of signal noise, not very powerful, and just feels and looks cheap. It also runs hot very fast and will shut off with no hesitation. If u want a cheap amp, go used. Or try this if you must go new...http://www.amazon.com/Autotek-Super-AT1200-Four-Channel-Amplifier/dp/B001T9N4JKIts

Its not anything special by any means but I could NOT get this amp to shut off no matter how hard I pushed it. Its decent on power and it sounds ok considering the price. I still say go used though. You'll get more for your money. Or atleast save up some more cash for a better new amp.

no i mean i heard it, and it sounded pretty good, and it was the only 1 he had that gave me more than 50 rms in each channel i wanted to push my 6x9s to its rated rms or more no less

It doesnt sound good and it doesnt do rated power contrary to what ever you were told by whoever sold it to you.

You could've gotten better for your money esp used. Personally, I'd sell it and get something better, but if you want to run it, go ahead. You may be satisfied....

That fan probably won't help...when I say they run hot, I mean HOT! Be sure to give it plenty of room to "breathe".

ssl is flee market junk ,that amp is prolly 70 new ,they have alot of feedback noise in them ,they dont last long ,and yes they get very hot and shut down because of the heat.i'd say personally ,you got burned

so it does get hot then?? a fan does help tho had a memphis installed a fan and never got hot again
Yeah, but the Memphis, even though they are inefficient as hell too lolol, was probably a good bit more efficient than the SSL. The fan might not be enough for the SSL lol. It might let it play a little longer before overheating.
