What do you guys think of these speakers?

I got ya.Makes sense.

How do you know, the sensitivity specs?
Just have to look into the driver manuals. Some specs are posted online, but I tend to go by the manufacturer's specs unless there's been independent klippel or T/S done on them.

Thanks again for the responses guys. I found today that the sensitivity of the Alpines I was looking at was pretty low (88dB). I think I'll need something more efficient than that. What do you guys think of the offerings from Polk Audio? Such as the DXi6501 or MM6501 speakers? I've read that they are quite good for their price range and extremely efficient.

@Jes42: Sorry about getting your name wrong. Your avatar just pulled me in and I assumed your name on here was SKAR Audio! Why do you hate that brand? Are they like the modern equivalent of Sparkomatic or Kraco?

The distaste towards Skar is directed more towards the complete lack of originality and lack of effort to hide that they are almost carbon copies of another successful brand. Realistically, they probably share a buildhouse with that company, though.

Between the two, don't bother with the DXi. I'm also not sure you're going to be a fan of the MM as the general complaint towards them is that the tweeters are pretty dang bright unless they're installed in the absolute perfect location.

As for efficiency, the average sensitivity for most component sets is going to be around 89-90 dB, so 88 is on the low side, but not that different from the average. The Hybrids have a 93.2 dB sensitivity, though, hence why they get my recommendation. The Mirus are slightly less at 92.6 dB. Should pair up extremely well together.
