What do you guys think of Pioneer

I'm looking to buy either 2 Alpine Type R 12's or Kicker CVX 15" or JL Audio 13" w3. My audio shop suggested I look into getting a Pioneer amp to get the best bang for my buck. My budget was not spending over $550 for amp and subs.

So you want at least a 1000rms amp. Check into AQ as they have a 1200rms amp that does close to 1400rms at 14volts I believe. Nice amp for cheap....IIRC 250 shipped.

There newer Class D/ICE technology amps from Pioneer are as good as any in there class. The older AB type amps S*CK for the most part, althoe from time to time they would screw up and make a good amp.

to the O.P. buy a used amp. I picked up a pair of 1250 wrms amps for $250

i dont know about the pioneer amps but i have 2 pioneer subs and i love them. check out the TS-W3001's i got them new for $147/piece. Also if your looking into the aq1200, i have an aq2200 and its also great + audioque has a good rep.
