ok i am going to be installing a stereo in my buddys 97 firebird (with the lt1 in it:up2somet: ) while he is still in the service over in korea. head unit kenwood kdc-mp7028 kuz it measures the g forces of the car under acceleration and cornering. jl 300/4, jl 500/1, jl 10w6v2, MB QUART RCE 216 6.5" components, 6.5" alpine type r coaxials, PAC SWI-RAY Steering Wheel Control Interface, 0/1 gauge wiring so those jl amps dont starve for power, stinger interconnects. i am gonna sound deaden the car, put an alarm in it, and build a fiberglass box, i told him he needs to send me $2300 for everything. so like $1600 for the stereo, $200 for the alarm, $200 for the enclosure, $200 for sound deadening, and $100 for miscilaneus stuff and beer. i am pretty set on the hu, amps, and sub but i am up in the air on the interiors i want components up front and coaxials for the rear fill. i am going for sound quality. all suggestions are welcomed. i may also put a yellow top in it too. i am not going to start this for a while kuz he needs to get the money.

Keep it simple and save your buddy some money - ditch the coaxials, buy a smaller amp for the fronts, yet spend far more moola on sound deadening. And, by all means, no beer! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

y no beer? for $200 i can get 200 sqft of fatmat. so that should be more than enough. he told me he doesnt want to go cheap on this, he is in the army and doesnt spend any of his money so he dont care. i just need sum suggestions on different interiors

whoa, you just contradicted yourself. rear fill is horrible for SQ. ditch it and spent that wasted money on some REALLY nice components up front. oh and DO NOT BUY FATMAT. its asphalt based. which is crap. raammat is the best bang fr your buck

I agree about the fatmat. Get raamat and you will be happier, trust me.

What I dont agree is guys saying to get rid of rear fill. I think that is soley on the person listening to the car. Ask the guy if he likes the feeling of being surrounded by highs or just want them coming from the front. I would look into those MBQuart componets. Very good but can be a little harsh. If you want some nice sounding componets I would look into the alpine spx177 set. They have the soft dome tweeter but can sound very good as long as you set the passive xover the right way. For backs if you go that route, I have heard great things about the Pioneer rev series. Not to expensive and sound great. Good luck with the install and when your done get some pics of that bad boy! Peace!

o i will be sure to get picks of it up when i do the work. i may just end up getting 2 dynamat bulk packs and throw that in the car. thats 72 sqft. a layer on the floor and a layer on the doors and the rear hatch it should be good. i was thinking about those type x comps for it too.

Don't waste ANY of that deadener on the floor - ANY of it. Besides, 72 sq feet is hardly anything. Use it on your front doors only and on your hatch, and then buy more. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

You are going to have a hard time getting a lot of support until either you change your statement of "SQ" system or you cope with the fact that: Rear fill is Bad, and you are going to need to use way more of your budget for install and deadening. Now if you say you want to have a stereo that feels integrated in a gadgety sort of way, by all means by rear fill, a remote for the steering wheel, and a stereo that displays G's. Having that and SQ on a limited budget isn't going to happen.

ive got a an '02 WS.6 ***** am and i'm deadening the doors right now. no way in hell will 72 sq ft be enough for what you're wanting to do. i got 40 sq ft of damplifier JUST for the doors and i could have honestly used 50-60 sq ft of it.

well i dont know what kind of sound deadener i am going to use yet. and u can all say that rear fill is not good for soundquaility, but i am still going to put rear speakers in. i am going for a nice well rounded stereo with sq. and the hu i am using is a decent hu too that happens to have that g feature. as far as the sterring wheel interface that is in request of my buddy who owns the car so i will put it in for him. well what kind of sound deadener do u all suggest i can use and get the most for the money on a $200 budget? how is edeadv1?

Hushmat is what I used, but got it from a local dealer. I have my doors and trunk lid done. I could use a little more but oh well. I like how easy it is to work with. That or raamatt should be able to get a deal on that. I would say secondskin but seems they are overpriced a little. Also dont let these guys fool ya. You can get a nice sounding sq system with all the speakers. I mean yes if you are going to run competitions with it then I would only do the front. But if it is for personal enjoyment then I would do all 4 of them. I have 2 sets of componets in mine and sound great. Besides if you arent used to listening to just a good set of fronts all the time, a) you may not like it. B)it takes some time getting used to it. I have done both and went back to the surround effect. Good luck! But everyone is different, hence the opionion factor.

that is what i am saying. my one buddy used to just run fronts and i hated it.

Umm, they were set up like crap then. If you spent the money on the install instead of the rear fill it wouldn't be a problem. You would love it.

I have to agree I have rear speakers, only runing on deck power (mad 7rms yo) and the fronts are running 100 watt rms. The only reason the rears are still there becasue it is a very annoying job to take them out. I can honestly not tell (no anyone else ever in my car) when the rears are turned on or off. Well the people in the back can tell but they are not important //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
