What Could Be Wrong?

I have a 2000 Honda civic 4 door sedan and my system consists of an old Pioneer deh-4150, pioneer graphic, cd changer, 4-ch amp, mtx two channel amp, 6x9's, jl subs and boston acoustics fs60 comps.

The newest pieces are the fs60 and the 12w3-d4 subs, everything else is almost 5 years old and working like champs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I bridged the pioneer two channel into two channels to power the comps and they have been playing very nice 'til last week //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

My 6x9's are running off the headunit.

All of a sudden my right comp began making some really weird ground like sounds, not alt whine noise, something more like a loose connection. The sound is like a bad tuned radio.

I checked EVERYTHING and it's all working fine and firmly wired/connected.

This is the funny part, it sounds great when the car is off or not moving at all, when it begins to run the noise comes back in, and it gets even worst on rough roads.

And YES it's only on the right comp (tweet and mid), all the others speakers are working correctly. The crossovers are mounted inside the door, screwed into the door panel, not the door itself.

What you guys think might be wrong, I just can't figure it out.

Five years without a single problem.

swap the channels for the left and right comp, if the noise switches to the other side, then its most probably the amp

them things don't last forever

Did you try switching the L/R RCAs? It could be the HU. 5 years huh? I guess you could try cleaning all of your grounds to make sure they're good too. I wish I could be more helpful.

EDIT: I just reread your posts and gained a little clarity. Take a good look at the speaker and make sure the leads are touching or anyhting of that nature.

Pull out your crossover and take the cover off. Look it over real good for any broken connections. I had the same problem, turns out a couple inductors disconnected on my crossover. Alittle work with the soldering iron and its good as new

i just had the same exact problem. i had bad rca's. and when i drove/hit bumps my comps would crackle. swap rca's to see if thats the problem

Yesterday I checked the crossover and everything is in good shape.

What I did today was to disconnect the eq and connect everything to the head unit, it seems like it's not making the noise, but I have to drive the car to see what happens, I'll keep you guys informed on how I come out with this.

Nop it's not the eq, **** it's driving me nuts.

I've been thinking a lot on it, maybe it's some kind of interference with the power, I think so because the noise comes in when the car is running, and not when the engine is off. Maybe my main power wire is inducing noise into speaker wire at some point.

What do you guys think of this, give me your comments please.

on another note, take those crossovers out of your doors and put them in the car. They dont like moisture or the extra movement that the door will have. thats really bad for them.

your first problem however sounds like either you have a speaker wire grounding out or one of the crossovers is damaged.

Definitly go through and check all conections to the speakers. I had this happen to 6x9 in my buddies car. The bass rattled the terminal loose and it was barely hanging on making a crap connection, made the speaker sound real staticy.

This is what I will have to do, it's not equipment related, nor rca related either, it has to be something with the speaker cable/connection.

I think it have to be cutted, trimmed, or something like that.

i had a problem something like that...was with 2 nippon america components...horrible...i found nothing wrong so had to sell them...they were only good for midrange and treble...hope u dont have to suffer the same faith!!!
