What could be the problem?

Ok, some of you may not believe this but this is how it is.

Me and my buddy have the same truck (98 Silverados) same HU, same System P3 12s with Rockford Fosgate 1200w Amp, same ground, same wires,same everything!

We have our systems wired exactly the same.

When I used to have my system hooked up it would bump even with the bass knob turned all the way down, now a sound doesn't even come from the subs until I turn up the bass knob a little bit. I know it's not supposed to come on until you turn the knob up but its just weird how it used to be like that. Also, his truck is like that, it still bumps a little bit when it's all the way down and we have the same settings on the HU.

Also, I feel his system hits a little harder than mine.

you might have worn down the coils... check what ohms your sub's coils read, if the impedance is high then either you need more power or its just gonna stay like that.

Mine are brand new his are my old ones. Could have something to do with it?

What happens when u unhook the bass knob and play with the gain? The circuitry in the knob could be bad or the amps bass knob circuitry. See if u can get it to bump like it used to without the knob.

subs worn in? sound deadening? his amp might have a lil more pwr than yours
