not really that hard, just cut the 2 outside peices and the bottom and front baffle, then fiberglass the top part
Although instead of mdf I would use Oak or some type of real wood, not just a composition. You leave around 1/8th of an inch of uncut wood, cut prob about every .5-.75 inches, and that should give you enough clearance to cut that anyway you want. If it dosen't cut some more out of it. It is a really easy technique to do.imo, f/g'ing that top is going to be much more costly and time consuming compared to just doing it out of mdf...just sink the blade down on a table saw to put slits in the mdf allowing you to do those contours..its really easy.
i was thinking that....i'd prob still have to do some glassing.imo, f/g'ing that top is going to be much more costly and time consuming compared to just doing it out of mdf...just sink the blade down on a table saw to put slits in the mdf allowing you to do those contours..its really easy.
yeah, but you dont have to glass, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, sand, sand, sand, and sand..just reinforce the back of the "slits" and youre donei was thinking that....i'd prob still have to do some glassing.
How exactly would you do taht? do you ahve any pictures...imo, f/g'ing that top is going to be much more costly and time consuming compared to just doing it out of mdf...just sink the blade down on a table saw to put slits in the mdf allowing you to do those contours..its really easy.
there was a REALLL good writeup i think on this site A WHILE back that showed it.How exactly would you do taht? do you ahve any pictures...
same way the pictures show..im tellin ya man, you'll save alot of time...nothing more than setting the blade depth once and moving the fence over a bunch of times..But what do u gusy thnk about the port...that's what i wanna know more about.
dude....i was thinking of slitting the OUTSIDE side of the top........but the BACK makes more sense like the pic! i love u man!same way the pictures show..im tellin ya man, you'll save alot of time...nothing more than setting the blade depth once and moving the fence over a bunch of times..
thats the kinda shit i cut at work the other day, not hard at all, i made a cut every 1/4 of an inch, but for something like speakers , subwise maybe not 5.25s or 6.50's, i would fiber glass or reinforce the curves.....
