What causes turn-on pop? I be forgettinnn

I've heard this being an issue when replacing the stock shaker 500 in the 2006 mustang.

"I do have this annoying pop when the head unit is powered on. I asked Crutchfield about that and they said to get a voltage regulator from Radio Shack that only cost a few dollars. It seems there is 12V going to the AMP and it needs to be 5V and thus the voltage regulator. "

I'm upgrading my HU here in the next week, and was looking to see if any one has advice prior to install?

Thanks

your stock system does it? or was that someone else? and you're replacing the hu and using the factory amps + speakers?

Its not happening to mine, but have heard this issue when replacing the hu in the stock 06 mustang gt something due to the different voltage the stock shaker used. Guess I'll see if it happens in the next week or so when I get the equipment.
