and how do i fix it? also damaged the ground wire, seems this is def why my amp is going into protection, the power and protect lights both light up

It may have had a bad connection which caused arcing between the terminal and the wire. Arcing = sparking = heat. Then again, I've never seen that before and am only guessing.

Might also be caused by a wire that is too small. This would cause it to heat up. What guage wire are you using and did the whole thing melt or what. Got pics of that???

it was 4awg wire, i took a pic of it but the cam didnt save it. bad connection where to the amp or ground point? or should i have strip the wire more? cuz it was too long and was liek balled up on the end so i cut some off

To the amp terminal. You need to use clean contact points all around...

looks like crazy oxidation to me.
Can you scrape any of that shit off of the termainal or did it melt?

well i restrip the wire and it works fine now....but i still need to restrip it cuz i was using the biggest stripper i have which is 10awg so i cut some wires, my razor woudnt cut thru the coating for shit. but yeah thats melted plastic around the terminal i can provly use sand paper to clean the inside out, i emailed kb audio with a pic. im waiting to see what they say about it. i might also need to email RE to get new terminals and just replace them

where can i find some real wire strippers and crimpers for 1/0-4awg wire?

shit man that's one unhappy 35.1D mine even looks better and it had 9 output transistors blown (i did buy it as broken though) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif board was burned lol

I've never seen a pair big enough to strip wire that big. I just use a standard box cutter with the blade in the first locked position. It sticks out about a 1/4 inch.

If your razor wont cut through the sheath, its probably dull, try using a new one. I would also cut the whole affected section off the end of the ground wire...

yeah i cut it off, i got i to go thru just took some time, im gonna order some cable cutters to cut the wire and hopefully tomorrow i can find a wire brush at lowes that will get into the terminal to clean it out

I just use a vice and a hack saw. Its not too bad if you cut it as close as possible to the vice.

Look in the section that has Dremel tools. They have have little round brass brushes that should just fit in the terminal. If you don't have a Dremel, you can but the bit in a drill. Works just the same...

yeah i got a drill i can use, and about the voltage drop i had a DMM on it when i first noticed the protect light but and even now when it cuts off the voltage doesnt drop. im looking on the site right now for it. whats the name of it?

i found a brass brush
