What can we do to bring the "audio" back into Caraudio.com?

Right, I hate those threads too. But the problem lies within that: nothing new is happening in car audio. New products aren't being released every day.
Dylan, I know you have seen my videos of the Optidrives that I post on Facebook, and I know they are a different product compared to what people usually use. But I don't bother posting them because I know no one will see them.
Yeah. I'm making it known to the Gods right now.

Or, rather, make it more prevalent? Obviously the Dome has been receiving a much greater portion of traffic this past year, and I have heard more than a few complaints about the lack of audio related things. What I haven't heard is any solutions...
And yes, this is posted in the General Audio section, and for two reasons: It is technically audio related, and most importantly, rules over off-topic and trolling can be enforced here. Lets get serious for once and pool together ideas to better the experience on this website.
i hate to say, but this, seems to be the problem, imho. whenever posting, i still feel "under the choker" on the banshee forum, you can be more sociable, and things just get cleaned up if it gets out of hand. however, the off-topic sections are not nearly as big as technical traffic sections, individually....... adversely, i don't want to click on a good 100 page read, even though i may be willing to click on 10-20 5-page threads....... the os collector thread is nice, but i'm not willing to sift through the whole thing. perhaps the answer is to limit the threads to like 10 pages, and have mods simply clean up the out-of hand off-topic pollution, as well as non joking "your kicker is fail garbage, sa is best" type put-downs, letting guys of different build types, and noobs open up with thier experience/sharing. i don't really see much from the entry level type, and i believe that the general concensus is that it is fail garbage. ironically, i think it is 10x as popular as the serious spl and sq builds..... heck, i got nothing but flack for trying to see what can be done to a pair of 6.5" drivers in the enclosure section.... i always see people asking about their L-series, and get told to buy something better..... not real nice to the average joe

I cant speak for other mods, but I dont plan on removing, or even moving, vid posts in the audio sections, so long as they are audio vids. I look at the vid section in the t-dome as more of an off-topic video section. I might be overruled on that, but that's my feeling at this point.

I DO plan on trying to keep the 'your equipment is junk, just buy something else instead' type replies to a minimum. If someone wants advice on their equipment, or if they should buy something else, fine. But if they are asking what enclosure for their L-series, there's no need to comment on if you think their equipment choice is legit. But Im not going to sift through all the tech posts to look for these posts, will just handle them when/if I see them. Moderation is not nearly so important as the general member base trying to help keep everyone respectful. I use to bitch out people for 'post dumping' on people's equipment long before I became a mod. I think the members showing most of them are friendly and helpful would be a huge step in the right direction (not that Im criticizing anyone here, just saying).

Stop making dumb threads like this for starters. The site is doing fine these days, in fact, this is the best I've seen it in awhile, if you would have brought this up a couple months ago I'd say you have worthwhile discussion, but right now I say just let the site keep going in it's current direction.

No I agree, this site has never been better! But we only got here through lots of constant change. I'm in it for the long run, so I say we get all the "change" out of the way now so we can enjoy the best car audio website on the internet later. This isn't a dumb thread, it's a serious ploy to increase traffic outside of the Dome. I think it's about time we try to do so.

well, as an example, i just got an infraction about an hour ago for mis-spelling "donkey"... and the post was not trolling, harrasing, or off topic. my in my post i made constructive suggestions to the question asked....... i think it was a mis-direction of energy that could have been spent elsewhere. ironically, here you are circumventing the censor in the same manor. it's nothing against you, i think you are a good mod, with your head in a good place, just happen to be reference material right now, lol. anyways, that is the kind of choker thing that makes me afraid to be active. you know what i spent time doing this morning? helping several members out in the tech sections, peruse the classifieds, and almost complete a technical info write-up, which included hours of research getting links to reference materials and pictures for others to see. all that is left is to upload and edit some first-hand explanation pictorials, and i can post it. it's just the type of thing i like to do..... 2nd infraction over really nothing, and i'm really starting to question whether or not this site is really worth more than the classifieds......just when things were starting to get nicer. i'm not saying i'm golden, an asset, needed, but how many other possible helpful members/future members do you think would have a similar point of view? we are not all instructors, and it's easier and more pleasant to communicate in an atmosphere more like the garage, living-room, work break-room, etc, than trying to communicate from the church podium. this site is found through need. it is visited through want.

There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism if people have equipment that is truly garbage. But if people have decent equipment, and nutswingers come in and suggest their favorite brand (Example: OP is running ARRRGHS but nuthugger says they are garbage and he should go DC), that is a different story. Those people are just trolls...

In 90% of the threads I have seen where the OP comes in with garbage equipment where experienced members on the forum tell them that they would be better off with new equipment, the experienced members assist the OP find GOOD equipment in his budget, space restraints, etc...not a thing wrong with that.

I still think a car audio media section would be a good addition. Think about it, that would quickly become a high traffic subforum; some people (myself included) don't like to do build logs because we just don't care/have time to take pictures documenting every little bit of progress, but we like to show off the finished product of our install. I wouldn't make a build log thread to show off my finished install though...

But I guess I can post my vids in the General Discussion area for the time being...

detailed how to videos would be great i know alot of us learned a few Tricks that can help out other members,we always get questions on how to take off a certain door panel or pull a deck out of a certain car
