I have two RCA speakers from an old stereo. They both have two wires coming from the back of them, a red and a black, each being about as thick as the antenna on your phone. These are the ones you clamb into the back of a stereo system. I have no idea what you call these, but I just described them pretty **** well:cool:

Anyways, I don't know what to hook them up to, (or how)

I was thinking my TV, but can't take that apart. Then I was thinking my USB headset for my ps2, re-wire it so that I hear out of the speakers instead of the headset (I'd still have to use the mic)

I can't really think of anything else though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Ok so, there's two wires from each speaker, red and black, and there's only one wire going to each headphone speaker. How am I supposed to connect it? Just wrap/twist both red and black around the single wire? Or just not use one of the wires on the speakers whether it be the red or the black one?

There is a second conductor that you're missing somehow, I would wager.

There has to be both positive and negative going to each driver in the headphones, no?

THats just the wire casing. There are 2 wires in each casing. You got to chop off the headphones. WIre + to + and - to - Ive noticed some of the enwer head phones are very touchy in the wiring. I got an old pair and it works good fro me!

omg serious?!?! this will not work.... look at the size of the headphones... now look at the size of those big *** box speakers... ur gonna need more watts than anything puts out of a headphone jack to hear anything... those headpone wires are so small thats why u cant see em lol

and i think they're called "bookshelf speakers"? something like that... u need to hook them up to a home reciever or mini home system type deal

Eh, nothing to lose. Probably 'll try it tomorrow. CanI just twist the wires together like you twist tye bread, and then put electrical tape over them?

Ya i would try running both channels to one speaker. Ive got that rigged up right now and it does ok for sound but im scared to use it. Ive wired up 2 3.5" dash speakers out of my truck in cool little plastic enclosures that are ported that came in my truck and they do alright.

Please google 'electricity'

=)

You can hook those speakers up to anything that drives speakers. If there are already speakers there, cut them out, and connect your bookshelves instead.

In the case of the headphones I would

a) disassemble the jack, solder new wires for the speakers

b) purchase a new, empty jack.

To whoever said that each wire going to each speaker on the headphones has two wires is wrong, there's only one going to each headphone speaker, so would i just wrap both the red and black around that one wire?
