what burns up on an amp???

ok well most of u know i touched my pwer wire to my amp the other day and fried it, but since i work on gate operator citcuit boards and because i had already opened up this amp once i decide to have a look at it, but i see nothing wront no burn marks on the board no blown fuses or anything,

so i wanted to ask when an amp "burns up" what happens and how can u tell?? does anyone here work on their amps???

You may wont to look at the power supply,Or somthing a long that line if you can test ever thing.
