What are your thoughts about Polk?

My friend is looking at a car that has a custom stereo which consists of mostly Polk equipment. I know that the Polk stuff isn't the most expensive stuff and we both don't have any experience with them. We were just wondering if the stuff is any good or if he should plan on taking it out and replacing it. Thanks.

Polk/Momo 500.1 Mono block on subs @ 2 ohm

Fiberglass floor housing amps, and crossovers

I mean there is better but it is fine for most people -- //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Dont buy the capacitor...

And I would lose the neons, thats just gay man.

Polk's audio is decent, its nothing great, but it is decent low end stuff. Deffintily better than Audiobahn, and MA Audio, and other low end sompanies. Their subs are pretty good, they get loud, not much SQ, but they do get loud. I have never heard their front stage products, so I can not comment on that. But you could find better amps, that will put out better SQ than those amps.

This seems like some kind of fanstasy thing you are dreaming up though. I am going to have to call //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/bsflag.gif.21f42eccd34b7d1eb1608fb1b59b69c3.gif until some type of pictures are provided.

seems like a decent system to me... dont let him overcharge you for it though.

But I doubt there is over 500 feet of wires in there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

ive had polk db and ex speakers, along with dx subs and i was very happy with it. it was loud and sounded good doing it. most would be satisfied with it unless they were hardcore SQ guys i think.

The system is already in the car...which my friend is looking at buying (not me). I don't think the system is adding too much to the price of the car. Here's two pics:

Since it's already in the car, then have your friend listen to it and see if he like the way it sounds. If he does, then there is no reason to take anything out or replace anything.

You have to realize that it did cost somebody alot of money to get all that stuff and install it into the car too. But if he was going to put some audio in it anyway then he should pay more because all the work is already done to the car

Thats a nice little setup. If I were your friend I would leave whats in there in there. Listen to it for a couple of months and then if any component in the system leaves a little to be desired you can always upgrade one piece at a time instead of gutting it.

Someone on here said the Polk was low end. I hate to disagree, no actually I love to disagree but as where I do agree the Polk (car stuff) is NOT high end it is definitely NOT low end. They handle about 100 watts and they sound really nice. But right now if your friend buys the car he should just listen for a while (instead of listening to other people's opinions on certain brands) before making any snap jundgments, he may love that setup.

Also, I don't know where Tony got his info on those subs but 1) they were not designed to get that loud. 2) They have excellent SQ. Atleast the ones I've heard were in a low powered SQ vehicle and they sound pretty darn good for the price.

The capacitor, well thats a whole orther argument in itself. One that will never see an end I'm afraid. But seeing how there is already one in the car I would leave that in to. Although there is alot of argument that caps don't help much I've never seen one hurt a system.

For anyone who says the Polk Momo series is just above Audiobahn, MA Audio equipment is stupid. I'm running Polk Momo 5 1/4 and 6 x 9's in the rear and it is an amazing system. The SQ is there 100% and the midbass seems to lack a little bit. Phatdemarco has no idea what he is saying. The Polk Momo line is a great line for the price. Comparable to MB Quart Platinum line, etc. They are great speakers and they have great response. As being an honor I love them and have had no problems with them at all. I wrote a review on them in this website, check it out sometime
