Before I met my wife, every New Year, I'd rent out a private, closed off, section of a pool hall (friends of the owner) and charge a measly $5 per head and invite all my buddies and ladies. The tiny entry fee paid for the rent and some times put me out a little ahead. But, it wasn't about making money. It was about having a great place to hang out and party surrounded by friends. Toward the end it started getting pretty big since everyone knew that's what they were going to do for New Years next year, and invited more and more people. The owners would send in (very hot) waitresses with complimentary champaigne and glasses for everyone. Whether you liked billiards or not, it was a friggin' great time, every year. I really miss doing that actually.
