what are you guys fitting in the doors of your CRX's?

Hey guys, trying to figure out what to put in the front doors of my 91 crx. Looking like Im gonna hang my horns from under the dash. The doors originally had 5-1/4's, I have some brackets on order that adapt to 6-1/2. But mounting depth looks abysmal. Oh and... manual windows. bleh

Ive checked the CRX boards and they all seem to recommend some lame *** Pioneer crap. Anyone with CRX experience want to let me know what you used? Thanks.

You talked to Louisana_CRX? He might be able to give you some pointers.

I'm running a pair of DD 6.5 mid's in the door of my CRX...I had to use some spacers I made out of some DD grill trim rings....I have ran Earthquake shallow mount 6.5 mid subs before...for highs the I'm running a set of Earthquake Screamers mounted on each corner of the dash...using the screamers angled surface mount brackets....my doors have a lot of dynamat ...on them....

with the DD's i have the factory grills removed...right now

Im looking at some old school Illusion mids that are very shallow. I dunno though...

Those illusion audio ND were some awesome drivers, you couldprobably fit the 8" in the depth you need if you modified the trim ring plenty.

Im not looking at the ND series, I was looking at the lm series. But yes id definitely consider some ND-8's if I came across them. Wonder if they'd extend up to 1khz.

Id like to avoid glassing the door panels at this point though. Ive been without tunes for much too long now, just want to get something acceptable going. Problem is Im pretty picky. lol
