Well after getting mine installed, I must say, SI Mags are some amazing subs.

You need to specify what you want out of it. Do you want a sub that will get real loud, a sub that has good sound quality, or do you want one that is somewhere in the middle of the two?

both..... best subs for sql, ones that get reall loud.
even though your original question is very open-ended id consider the XXX one of the better overall subs...great accuracy, transient response, great low-end, get louds......there are drawbacks...likes alot of power and displaces alot and weighs alot as well......im referring to the '06 model

That is quite a broad question... I am new to car Audio as well, but this site has taught me a lot already... There are 3 types of subs, SQ- Sound quality, SPL- Sound Pressure Level? and SQL- A mix of sound quality and loudness... IF you just want loud, than there are many subs that can suit your needs such as Digital Designs 9500, Atomic MTX, and many more. In my car I want Sound quality as well as loudness, so after searching around a lot, it seems that the best for sql is the Stereo integrity Magnum. Here is a list of brands for you to check out...

Stereo integrity

RE Audio

Digital Designs

Audioque

Elemental designs

TC sounds

Those are all good companies in their own ways, and all make good speakers...

you never specified a budget //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
im not really worried about the budget, im just interested in the best product out there. I already got my subs, but im thinking of trading or sellin them to get something a little better.

depending on your definition of loud, and what 'sounds' loud to you, an efficient budget speaker in a small sealed box with a high F3 could be your best bet, and have great SQ as well

do some reading and try and break down all the options, and use people's descriptions and experiences with different speakers to decide what kind of sound you want

some subs are better for quality, some are better for loudness, and even more specifically, some are better for different types of enclosures, and better frequency ranges

numbers on a page don't always tell you everything you need to know, either, which is why it would be a good idea to do some searching and find out a little bit about speakers you're considering

Well, then the forementioned XXX subs from Resonant Engineering are very nice, as are the Stereo Integrity Magnums, and the TC Sounds LMS series. I can't really speak for very many other subs, as I haven't heard very many that are targeted for SQL.

the type-x's are quite nice also

they've been my favorite sub to date

and one more thing i thought i'd mention is that i too started with the general SQL mission in mind, and in my experience, once you play with enough SQL drivers, you start to get a feel for what you love and hate about each speaker, and refine your tastes to go to a dedicated speaker one way or the other

i, myself, am heading in the full-on SQ direction. because with my x's maybe 1% of the time i was going all out and cranking some bass tracks or something, but the other 99% of the time at normal volume, i was wishing my subs sounded just a tad bit better, and were a bit more linear up through the frequency range, so it's a SQ driver and a sealed box for me...

No one ever mentions Image Dynamics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif
